Copenhagen Airport, located on the island of Amager, 8 km from the city centre, serves Copenhagen and Malmo, Sweden. It serves approximately 50,000 passengers a day. 20.9 million passengers passed throughout it  in 2006, making in the busiest airport in Nordic countries. It was granted many international awards for quality of the service and facilities. It is ranked among top ten airports of the world by Forbes list, and the ninth best according to Skytrax passenger survey.

 The airport was opened in 1925, as one of the first private airports, and new terminals were built successively. In 2000 a commuter train line between Copenhagen and Malmo was constructed, and in 2001 five-star Hilton hotel built in the airport.  A Metro station is scheduled to open in October, 2007 to connect the airport with the city.

Presently the airport has 1700 employees, and has a maximum capacity of 83 loadings/hour, with room for 108 airplanes. Copenhagen Airports A/S also operated Roskilde Airport and owns 49% shares of Newcastle  Airport. It is referred to as Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, to distinguish it from smaller Copenhagen airport, Roskilde.

The airport serves innumerate destinations in all European and many world countries. Terminal 1 hosts all domestic arrivals and departures - Cimber Air, Danish Air Transport, Scandinavian airlines, Sterling Airways.

Terminal 2 hosts Aer Lingus (Dublin), Aeroflot (Moscow), Air Berlin, Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, Bulgaria Air, Czech Airlines, easyJet (Berlin, London), Finnair, Iran Air, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Middle East Airlines (Beirut), SkyEurope (Bratislava, Budapest, Prague), Sterling Airlines (all major European destinations), Turkish Airlines.

Terminal 3 serves Air Baltic, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Spanair (Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca), Thai Airways International. Thus the airport provides rapid and convenient connection with many countries and is one of the best choices for long-distance travel to Denmark.
